bygone theatre presents

Bygone Theatre Presents is a new development program that forms a part of Bygone’s educational programming. In-keeping with our mission to provide hands-on training to artists, we are choosing a number of emerging artists who have ideas for shows that in some way fit within our mandate. This can be more flexible than our usual productions, and includes things like;
-
Shows that reflect on the past
-
Shows set in the early to mid-twentieth century
-
Shows with a classic cinematic aesthetic
Artists should have at least a first draft of a play, but do not have to have produced or workshopped it previously. They should be interested in learning about all aspects of production, from the creative to the financial, and should be ready to take on an active role working alongside professionals who will help to guide the show’s development.
Some productions may be chosen to be produced for a live audience. This will depend on the quality of the production and the way in which the artist engages and focuses on the work. Bygone will provide free space and other resources for the development process, and may provide a space and support for mounting a full production. This will be a program that is personally tailored for each artist in hopes of providing the individual the guidance they need.
There is no cost to participate in Bygone Theatre Presents, and there is no guaranteed payment for those chosen to participate. This energy share opportunity gives young artists a chance to jump feet first into a production, learning as they go from those who’ve done it before, while developing a show they have a personal connection to: we want to help you build your passion project.
Bygone Theatre Presents is run by Artistic Executive Director, Emily Dix, alongside artists chosen specially to work with each participant.
